Bill Toma's
love of wildlife really comes through when one views his
attention to accuracy in detail and action. "My technique
is anything but loose. I love detail. To recreate the
precise flow of hairline patterns and anatomy illustrates
the realism I try to portray. 'Ridge Runner', for example,
running down a mountain, balanced on one leg with the
luxuriant flow of hairline detail along with realistic
coloring is an effectinve representation of my technicque.
On of my favorite experiences was in sculpting 'White
Rhino'. While on photographic safari in South Africa,
I was fortunate enough to follow on foot a family of white
rhinos resulting in the remarkable photos which were used
to create this incredibly prehistoric beast. It was like
reading a fantastic book and not wanting the experience
to end."
